‘SPECTRE’ battles ‘Hunger Games’ at US box office in week three

Spectre (2015)23-11-15
‘SPECTRE’ dropped an estimated 57% in its third weekend at the US and Canada box-office for a three-day take of $14.6m.

That is a considerable drop compared to ‘Skyfall’, which raked in $35.5m in its third weekend. The difference this time around is that ‘SPECTRE’ is up against the launch of the final part of the ‘Hunger Games’ series, whereas ‘Skyfall’ had no significant new release to battle against in its third weekend. ‘Skyfall’s third weekend also coincided with the Thanksgiving holiday, but ‘SPECTRE’ has to wait until next week for that traditional boost.

Industry estimates peg ‘SPECTRE’s weekend as follows:
Friday – $4,300,000
Saturday – $6,575,000
Sunday – $3,725,000

The running total for ‘SPECTRE’ in the US is $153.7m after three weekends.
