Double-o-no-no… MI6 can officially confirm Hugh Jackman has never been approached to play James Bond or has any 007 contract

Bond News14-02-04
Every time a news article, TV show or radio broadcast comments on who the next Bond is going to be, one name always comes up high on the list – Hugh Jackman.

The recent spate of `Brosnan axed` rumours, which MGM denied in yesterday`s trade press (The Hollywood Reporter and Variety), have often touted him as the favourite. Some rumours go as far as to say he has already signed to take over from Pierce Brosnan.

Now MI6 can lay the issue to rest, once and for all.

Today MI6 spoke to Hugh Jackman`s publicist, and quizzed him on the ever circulating rumours that Jackman is the next Bond.

“Hugh has never officially been approached to play the role of James Bond”, he said, clearing up the latest tabloid talk and Jackmania hype.

With Brosnan in place for Bond 21 now that MGM have squashed the latest press rumours and fan speculation, and official confirmation that Hugh Jackman has never received an approach to play the role let alone sign a contract, it`s back to business as usual for the 007 series.
