For 13 years, MI6 – the home of James Bond – has been serving 007 fans as a hub for up-to-the-minute James Bond news as well as delivering fascinating features and an exhaustive encyclopedic database of Bond movies, people, novels, comics, games and more.
Domain Name Change
From today onwards, that same service continues as normal, but at our new home: MI6-HQ.com. Bond fans, please update your bookmarks.
This change has come about due to a number of structural and technical reasons, many of which will remain classified. Outside of the regular Bond fan community, all too often MI6 was cited in error as MI6.com or MI6 Headquarters, and as MI6 has become a global brand, it was a natural step in our evolution to move to a ‘.com’. Rest assured this change does not affect the high quality content or frequent updates you have come to expect. Again, we urge you to update your bookmarks and links and continue watching MI6-HQ.com, where we have a raft of exciting features planned.
Also newly implemented at MI6 is a support ticket system. This will allow our entire team to better serve you by keeping records of your dialogues with MI6 and respond promptly to your enquiries. We hope you find this a useful new tool and promotes better communication between MI6 and its readership. Please note, we may be unable to answer questions about the move and associated changes immediately. Instead we refer you to the above public statement.
Evolving Forums To A Community
MI6’s sister-site, the ‘Keeping The British End Up Discussion Forums’, has likewise served the Bond community for a number of exciting years.
However, as regulars to the forums will note, the software (and quality of service that software was able to bring to the community) was limited. Our technical team has worked long and hard over the years to maintain the legacy system, ensuring a stable and reliable place for fans to discuss 007. However, given the size of the forums, the technical limitations faced to date, and the resources required to maintain the software, MI6 has made a challenging decision. Henceforth, we will no longer maintain ‘Keeping the British End Up’.
Instead, we have launched the brand new ‘MI6 Community’. Located at MI6Community.com, this new system is the official hub for all MI6 and James Bond related discussion. The software, from a technical standpoint, is more readily maintained by its authors, faster, uses better web protocols and practices and, we believe, easier to navigate for fans and followers. Online interaction has evolved radically over the past couple of years with Facebook and Twitter, and the new MI6 Community reflects those developments, in comparison to old fashioned bulletin-board systems.
If you were a “00 Agent” or Vauxhall Cross Staff member at the previous incarnation of the community, your accounts are already set up and your original usernames claimed on your behalf. All you need do is reset your password and you will be able to access the community and begin posting. If you have any queries or cannot access your community account, please open a support ticket.
All other users interested in continual participation at MI6 Community will need to claim your accounts by registering here. It will only take a moment to activate your account. You may also be able to log-in via Facebook or Twitter if you have an active account.
