'Skyfall' box office supremacy predicted this weekend

Skyfall - 08-12-12
"Skyfall" took an impressive $3.1 million domestically (USA & Canada) this Friday, which granted, is a 36 percent dip on last week. Nonetheless, this should be enough to keep it top of the box office stats for another weekend as it's only real competitor, "Breaking Dawn Part 2", fell 49%, collecting an estimated $2.7m on Friday.

The only new release to open this week was Christmas rom-com "Playing for Keeps", starring Gerard Butler, and already starts its time at the box office outside the top 5.

Pundits predict that "Skyfall" will have just enough to edge out "Twilight" and "Lincoln" to secure top place at the box office this weekend.

It would be the first film since "Avatar" to be #1 at the box-office in its fifth week on release.
