'Skyfall' lands Australian award for highest grossing film

The Australian International Movie Convention wrapped on Friday and 007 landed another award.

At the four day exhibition and distribution convention, the News Corp Australia Box Office prizes went to �Skyfall� as highest grossing film of the year in Australia, with a gross of A$49 million (US$47 million at current exchange rates).

Looking back, "Quantum of Solace" earned a total of $20.64m USD in Australia in 2008, which was significantly down on the "Casino Royale" haul of $49.98m USD.

Elsewhere, �The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey� won for highest grossing 3D film in Australia (A$42.9 or US$41.1 million) and as highest grossing film in New Zealand; and to �The Great Gatsby,� which, with a gross of A$27.6 million (US$26.5 million), was the highest grossing Australian film.
