British scientists analyse Bond's detrimental drinking habits |
Bond Style - 14-12-13
Scientists have taken a close look at 007's drinking in the James Bond novels by Ian Fleming, and offer some bleak conclusions about our favourite spy's drinking habits.Earlier this year, two researchers sat down and read all 13 James Bond publications by Ian Fleming, noting Bond's drinking habits and quantities. 123.5 days were described across all the books, and Bond is described as drinking some kind of alcoholic beverage on all but 36 days during which he was either in hospital, incarcerated, or in Shrublands rehabilitation centre.
During the period, it has been calculated, Bond consumes 1150.15 units of alcohol.
Concludes the report: "James Bonds level of alcohol intake puts him at high risk of multiple alcohol related diseases and an early death. The level of functioning as displayed in the books is inconsistent with the physical, mental, and indeed sexual functioning expected from someone drinking this much alcohol."
