Diana Rigg speaks about her role in TV's 'Game of Thrones'

Actor News - 07-04-14
The Bond girl who became Mrs. Bond in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and had a stint opposite Patrick Macnee in TV's "The Avengers" has been playing Olenna Tyrell in seasons 3 and 4 of the HBO drama "Game of Thrones".

"I loved the idea of playing this naughty old bag," Rigg told the Associated Press. "It's my idea of heaven." She admits not to quite understand the plot, and have not read the novels upon which the series is based. "I rely upon the directors to fill me in before a shot. They're very good with reminders."

She recalled that it was "The Avengers" that gave her career the needed boost: "It put me on the map, which a lifetime of Shakespeare wouldn't have done."
