Author Warren Ellis reveals opening to new 007 comic 'VARGR'

Author Warren Ellis says James Bond's first comic book appearance in 20 years will feature a "cold open".

Ellis, who previously wrote RED - which became the action film with Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren, said he was inspired by the "famous action scene at the top of every film."

"I didn't want to be influenced by the films," said Ellis. "The one thing I couldn't stop myself doing was the famous Bond cold open. I had to do a Bond cold open, I just couldn't stop myself and they let me get away with it."

When pushed for details on the opening, he added "it's a duel, in a building scene outside Helsinki."
