According to Kyodo News (Japan), a petition has begun in Noboribetsu city in Hokkaido, a northern island of Japan, near Russia.
The petition is run by the city officials, requesting people of the city to sign along with visitors to the famous hot springs in Noboribets.
The aim of this activity is to invite 007 shooting location to the city.
Noboribetsu residents and their petition.
The idea came because of Reymond Benson's Bond novel "The Man With The Red Tattoo". In this book, Bond travels to Japan and also goes to Noboribetsu.
They are trying to receive 30,000 signatures by the end of this month, then send it to Eon Productions.
Prior to Noboribetsu, another city - Kagawa Prefecture - began their official petition in the summer. Kagawa Prefecture is located on Shikoku island, which is in the south. Benson's Bond also goes to this place.
Kagawa Prefecture locals campaign for more signatures.
According to local newspaper Shikoku Shinbun, they want 50,000 signatures. As of July 18th, they had received 4,000. They plan to send the petition to Eon in October.
