Julian McMahon could not accept James Bond role, claims his mother

Casino Royale - 07-11-04
The rumour went around the US media like a bad rash in August, and now Julian McMahon makes a return to the rumour scene, courtesy of his mother.

McMahon was first linked to the vacant Bond role by E! Online, whose rumour seemed to be based on nothing more than a magazine cover where he appeared in a 007-like pose.

But McMahon was apparently offered the role according to his mother, Lady Sonia McMahon. She spoke openly to guests about the casting at the Melbourne Cup's Moet & Chandon marquee this week - reports ComingSoon.

She revealed her son had indeed "been sounded out about taking on the role. Unfortunately, he had to decline the offer, having recently signed a long-term deal with his hit TV drama series Nip/Tuck."

McMahon, formerly on Charmed, also plays Dr. Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four adaptation
