Casino Royale sells for second highest amount ever for Fleming first edition at auction

MI6 reported on Ian Fleming lots going under the hammer by Bloomsbury Auctions back in February. Now the auction has taken place, and the final sale prices are in:

- Casino Royale first edition sold for �21,000 ($40,454 USD)

- A set of letters sold for �4,165 ($8,022 USD)

- "Limited edition" copy of OHMSS sold for �4,760 ($9,168.27 USD)

- Signed first edition copy of OHMSS sold for �3,332 ($6,417.91 USD)

- Dr. No first edition sold for �524 ($1,009 USD)

- BBC radio transcripts and address given at Fleming's memorial service sold for �893 ($1,720 USD)

This sale of Casino Royale was the second highest price ever paid for a Fleming first edition. The highest was the copy of "From Russia With Love" that was enscribed to Geoffrey Boothroyd, and auctioned last year.
