Vocalist Amy Winehouse tipped for Bond 22 theme song

Amy Winehouse has been tipped to record the next James Bond theme, after her jazz-tinged vocals caught the ears of movie producers - reports ITN.

The Stronger Than Me singer, 23, revealed she already had a preliminary discussion with 007 executives and is optimistic she will follow Casino Royale artist Chris Cornell into the recording studio.

She said: "We've been in contact with the James Bond people and hopefully that'll come off in the future."

The news crowns a good week for Winehouse, whose second album, Back To Black, is riding high in the charts as is her new single, Rehab.

With a new actor playing Bond for the first time in nearly a decade, interest in the superspy is at an all-time high and Amy's deal could be just the springboard she needs for more success.

If the deal does come off, Winehouse will join a long list of famous names who have recorded songs for Bond films including Madonna, Wings, Duran Duran, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner and Sheryl Crow.

Thanks to `Dog Bond` for the alert.
