McDonnell Douglas 902 helicopter `confirmed` for Bond 22

The next James Bond film is set to feature a helicopter owned by Skegness area millionaire businessman John Woodward - reports Skegness Today.

The impressive McDonnell Douglas 902 - costing around 1.5million - was to be used in the current hit Casino Royale until production problems meant it didn't make filming.

But researchers are so impressed with the aircraft they have asked if it can be made available for the next film.

And in true 007 fashion, I donned my best, and only, evening shirt and bow tie, to uncover the full story at Mr Woodward's Blue Anchor Leisure base at Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells.

Giles Crust, planning consultant to Mr Woodward, said: "The helicopter was due to be used in the current film. But it was brought over from America before being assembled at McDonnell Douglas' base in Shoreham, Sussex, and wasn't quite ready in time, so an old model was used in Casino Royale."

He added: "But they have asked if they can use it in the next film and I know they have been told it will be made available. It really is the Rolls Royce or the Ferrari of the helicopter world."

The twin engine helicopter can reach speeds in excess of 200mph.

It is jet black with a distinctive red stripe on the outside and has a luxurious blue leather interior.

Mr Woodward, who certainly has a 'goldeneye' for detail, has a personalised number - N902JW.

But no Bond helicopter would be complete without a cocktail cabinet.

"It is well stocked with champagne," added Mr Crust.
"There are also six champagne flutes with Mr Woodward's coat of arms engraved on them. It is the only way to travel - watching the countryside go by while sipping champagne."
