Bond 22 filming to take place around Lake Garda, details on shooting

As MI6 first reported back in October, the Bond 22 production team were planning to film some sequences at Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) in Italy. At the time, details were sketchy.

Although some fansites have been touting 'insider' claims about the locations, the original source has come to light. A well researched report by German news outlet Welt Online (originally published on 4th January) has flown under the mass-media radar - until now. The article confirms new details of the Italian shooting schedule for Daniel Criag's second James Bond outing.

At the end of last year, writer Paul Haggis spent the final few days of his Bond 22 script-writing excercise at Lake Garda, and the atmosphere must have rubbed off as nearby locations feature in the story.

The director of tourism of the region, Marco Girardi, confirmed that the Bond 22 film crew will visit the Lake Garda region for ten days at the end of April. Filming is reported to focus on the area around the shores of the famous lake.

Action will take place along the narrow streets and winding roads around the lake in the villages of Torbole, Limone sul Garda, and Tremosine.

The production team visited the Stelvio pass in the Italian Alps back in August to recce for a possible car chase, reported to feature the Aston Martin DBS versus the new Ford GT 40.

MI6 understands the scenes filmed at these locations will feature early in the movie.

Produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli (Eon Productions), BOND 22 (title to be announced) is scheduled for release November 7th 2008 and will be directed by Marc Forster. Principal photography started on January 2nd 2008 at Pinewood Studios and around the UK, and foreign locations including Italy, Panama, Austria and Bolivia. Paul Haggis completed the script based on a first draft screenplay developed by regular scribes Neal Purvis & Robert Wade. The story will be a direct continuation of the events of Casino Royale. 007 will face off against villains Mathieu Amalric (Dominic Greene), Anatole Taubman and Joaquin Coso (General Medrano). Olga Kurylenko (Camille) and Gemma Arterton (MI6 Agent Fields) will play Bond Girls. Dame Judi Dench (M), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Giancarlo Giannini (Mathis) will reprise their roles as Bond's allies. It is British actor Daniel Craigs second outing as James Bond, following his debut film Casino Royale released November 16th 2006.
