`Quantum` slips to #4 on DVD rental chart, stays top for Blu-Ray sales

The family hit "Marley & Me" exhibited both bark and bite when it debuted on home video, topping the national DVD sales and rental charts during the week ended April 5 - and sending 007 down a few notches in the chart. The movie easily captured the No. 1 spot on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, besting two other new releases, including "Slumdog Millionaire," this year's best picture Oscar winner.

"Slumdog Millionaire" debuted at No. 2 on the sales chart, selling about 65 percent as many discs as "Marley." "Twilight" slipped to No. 3 after two consecutive weeks at No. 1. Two other new releases debuted in the First Alert top 10: the Will Smith drama "Seven Pounds" at No. 5 and the Adam Sandler-topped "Bedtime Stories" at No. 7.

"Marley" also bowed at No. 1 on Home Media Magazine's weekly rental chart, with "Seven Pounds" following at No. 2 and "Slumdog Millionaire" at No. 3. "Seven Pounds" generated 69 percent as much rental activity as "Marley," while "Slumdog" was close behind at 65 percent. "Quantum of Solace," the previous week's top renter, slipped to No. 4.

On the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc chart, "Quantum of Solace" held on to the No. 1 slot, with "Slumdog Millionaire" a close No. 2, selling more than 97 percent as many units as the latest James Bond film. "Marley & Me" debuted at No. 3. Blu-ray Discs accounted for 13 percent of total "Slumdog" sales, as opposed to just 7 percent of "Marley" sales.
