Bond News - 29-08-10
It's one of the best-loved James Bond themes but Sir Paul McCartney says that after hed recorded Live And Let Die in 1973, producer Harry Saltzman expected Dame Shirley Bassey or someone else to sing it.

Sir Paul tells MOJO magazine that hed always wanted to write a Bond theme.

But according to Macca, when Saltzman heard the track, he asked producer George Martin who he planned on having sing the finished version.

Says Macca: He said, Thats a great demo but who are you thinking of getting to sing it? He was thinking of Shirley Bassey.
