007 director Michael Apted to take over surfing film from Curtis Hanson

Bond News - 06-12-11
"The World Is Not Enough" helmsman has found himself in the deep end, taking on the half-finished "Of Men and Mavericks" that was a pet project of director Curtis Hanson.

Hanson suffered health complications from a recent heart surgery and has been unable to complete the project, Deadline reports.

The film stars Gerard Butler and Jonny Weston who will be playing the lead big wave surfer Jay Moriarity.

Except perhaps in the James Bond fanverse, Apted is a highly regarded director and many commentators feel the project is in safe hands.
