With a new actor at the helm, and a long hiatus away from the
cinema, relaunching the James Bond franchise in 1995 used a few
nods to 007's past to bring both continuity and change to the
proceedings.
'GoldenEye' costume designer Lindy Hemming paid
homage to Ursula Andress in 'Dr.
No' when she selected a three-piece
white bikini for Izabella
Scorupco's character Natalya Simonova
to wear during the beach scenes in Cuba.
Hemming sourced the bikini from La Perla and a matching sarong
from Ghost.
Scorupco kept the ensemble after filming completed
and it was in her personal possession until November 2012, when
she donated it to
the Child Diabetes Fund in Sweden for charity auction. The hammer
came down at double the estimate, selling for 25,000 SEK (£2,100
or $3,600).
