Bentornato Mr. Bond

22nd July 2014

007 may be heading back to Italy for a car chase on the streets of Rome for Bond 24...

Newly appointed at the helm of the Lazio Film Commission, Luciano Sovena confirmed to Italian press that Bond 24 will shoot on location in Rome at the end of this year if all goes well. Whilst admitting the city has not seen a lot of film action in recent years, Sovena was excited that 007 will be coming, but paperwork still needs to be done.

"I met the producers of the Bond series, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson," said Sovena, "and we discussed the project. One of the key scenes, among the most spectacular in the film, will be a car chase in Via Quattro Fontane. I'm already excited. I hope that the City streamlines the procedures for the granting of permits, it would be a shame to miss this great opportunity because of the bureaucracy."

MI6 understand that Bond will be behind the wheel of a brand new Aston Martin for the chase.

Daniel Craig's era of 007 is no stranger to Italy. Venice was a major location in 'Casino Royale', and Lake Como was also in Craig's debut and the follow up 'Quantum of Solace'. The 2008 film also used Siena and Lake Garda as locations in the pre-title sequence.

"Hosting the blockbuster Bond franchise is part of the strategy of Lazio Film Commission that it intends to attract large foreign productions in the region and encourage independent Italian filmmaking," explained Sovena. "Our region has all the requirements, environmental and professional, to become the most sought after locations of the movie."
