EON Eyes Croatia

23rd February 2016

Bond 25 could be shooting in the Croatian city of Dubrovnik according to local reports

Mark your calendars. Today is the first pre-production rumour for the 25th James Bond film. Although MI6 understands the film is not likely to be released until 2018, work is actually underway. Early story outlines are being drafted and, if local reporting is accurate, EON Productions are already starting to eye potential filming locations.

According to reports in the country, Croatia has been approached by EON as a possible shooting venue for Bond 25. The follow up to 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is about to arrive in the city of Dubrovnik in two weeks, so locals are busy preparing for the production. This will not be the first time a high profile shot has come to town, as 'Game of Thrones' has already used the location, notable for its historic stone walls, ramparts and coastline.

"We are negotiating at the moment. We would need to pay. Negotiations about money is going on, and it's not easy to negotiate with James Bond, but we have started," Dubrovnik Mayor Andro Vlahušić told the press. Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

It would not be the first time that James Bond action has shot in Croatia, although not for a film in the franchise. Heineken used the Croation town of Rovinj as the setting for their 'SPECTRE' television commercial (although Daniel Craig performed his action on green screen).
