"Everything's movable and doable", Pierce Brosnan says he wants to return to James Bond for a fifth outing.

Brosnan Wants Back As Bond

Following MI6's exclusive report last month that Pierce Brosnan was privately voicing his desire to come back for a fifth time as 007, and Sony's wish to hire him due to the lack of a stand-out replacement candidate, Brosnan has now gone public on the issue.

In an interview with the San Francisco Chroncile, the four-times 007 went on the record that he wants to come back to Bond.

"They know where to find me", Brosnan said. "Would I go back if they asked me back? Sure I’d go back. No question; it’s unfinished business, it feels that way."

On the subject of what happened after "Die Another Day", brosnan said: "They just changed their minds; they had a different take on it one day. I was invited back to do the fifth and I was very happy... And the phone just rang one day and negotiations stopped. To this day I’m not sure why.

"I was terribly upset. It was a real body blow. I thought I’d made some good inroads with the character and felt a sense of ownership after having played him four times, it was a sense of ease and confidence. I was looking forward to making it edgier and grittier — and for all of that to go down in one phone call was highly disappointing."

"Michael and Barbara, our families have known each other for many, many years — it’s very hard to talk about their feelings or why they had a crisis of confidence in doing a fifth. There have been preposterous ideas that I was asking for $40 million and $30 million, which is not true. There was certainly a salary there that was not out of the ballpark, that other men and women have received for the same (type of film)."

Brosnan starts filming "Seraphim Falls" with co-star Liam Neeson next week, and after that follows a sequel to "The Thomas Crown Affair." But would Brosnan clear his schedule for a return to 007 under director martin campbell if asked? "Everything’s movable and doable. Nothing’s set in stone."

Unfortunately for Brosnan, director Martin Campell has repeatedly said this week that the current plan for "Casino Royale" is to take 007 back to an early point in his career when the character is 28 to 30 years old, and that a decision on casting a new Bond (from around 8 current candidates) will be made in the next two weeks.
