"You Know My Name", the theme song from the 21st James Bond film Casino Royale, will be released as a single in December. Performed and co-written by Audioslave front man Chris Cornell, "You Know My Name", will be released on the Polydor label on December 11th 2006. It will be available via import in the USA on the Universal/Polydor label three days later on December 14th 2006 (official US release information TBA). There are no further details available regarding any possible "B-sides", extra features or special enhanced content on the CD. According to Cornell, the song will also appear on his new solo album, scheduled for release in February 2007. "You Know My Name" was co-written by composer David Arnold, who scored Casino Royale.

In a recent interview, Cornell explained how he came to be chose to co-write and perform the song: "They were pretty clear about what they didn't want - which was a song that had already been sitting around that I would just cleverly adapt to the new film, which happens quite a lot apparently. They also didn't want to echo any recent Bond theme songs.

"Their attitude was that they wanted somebody who vocally would be unapologetically masculine. David Arnold's quote was that they didn't want the 'bird with the broken wing' type of singing. Obviously 1987 was the last time a male artist sang a song - but I didn't read too much into that. I assumed that meant that they just wanted me to do what I do."
