Although Spain is the last territory in Europe for "Quantum
of Solace" to go on general release, Thursday night
(6th November 2008) saw Daniel
Craig and Olga
Kurylenko walk the red carpet
for the Spanish
premiere at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia.
In the afternoon before the premiere, Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko,
Guillen Cuervo and director Marc
Forster attended a photocall
at Las Arenas Hotel in the city.
In addition to cast and crew, which also included Spanish
actor Fernando Guillén Cuervo, director Marc Foster
and producer Barbara
Broccoli, the premiere was attended by
a host of names in the public eye, with many attending the
after show party at a club in Valencia marina.
With Spain's level of music and DVD piracy among the highest
in Europe, security was particularly tight, with 1,500 staff
on hand to prevent mobile phones being taken in to the screening.
According to the Spanish media, the budget for the premiere
was €400,000, of which €150,000 was provided equally
by Valencia's town hall, the regional government and Valencian
company Grupotec. Additional publicity came from Valencia's
Canal 9 television station, which dedicated a program to the
new Bond movie.
"Quantum of Solace" opens nationwide
in Spain on Friday 21st November 2008.
