James Bond's famous Aston Martin DB5 will return in "Skyfall" - Daniel Craig spotted driving during London filming...

Aston Martin DB5 Returns

10th December 2011

One of the best loved elements of the James Bond film series will be back for "Skyfall" as 007's Aston Martin DB5 will once again be making an appearance.

The famous car was snapped last night as members of the public saw filming take place on location at a light industrial estate off Childers Street - walking distance from Millwall Football Club - in the London Borough of Lewisham.

Shot at night, the scene is reminiscent of "Goldfinger", with Bond driving the DB5 down narrow streets, zipping past warehouses and ducking under the arches of a railway line. For the 1964 film, the chase scene at Auric Enterprises was actually shot at Pinewood Studios.

Both Daniel Craig and Judi Dench were reported to be on location, with the former behind the wheel.

During the Bond 'reboot', 007 won his Aston Martin DB5 in a poker game with Dimitrios in "Casino Royale".

Filming will continue in Deptford and New Cross in London. In the movie, the DB5 action will feature in scene #134.

Right: James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 was filmed with Daniel Craig behind the wheel on Friday 9th December.

Although seemingly as pervasive in the Bond franchise as a tuxedo, dry martini and Walther PPK, an Aston Martin DB5 has only actually featured in five films: "Goldfinger", "Thunderball", "GoldenEye", "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "Casino Royale". There was also a scene cut from "The World Is Not Enough" where Bond arrived at King's funeral in the car.

Ian Fleming had originally put 007 in an Aston Martin DB Mark III when he wrote the 'Goldfinger' novel back in 1959, but four years later when shooting started, newer models had been produced and the latest and greatest was required for the world's favourite secret agent. The DB5, made famous by 007, boomed into a massive merchandise icon. Today, fans can buy diecasts and miniatures, Scaletrix sets, and many other collectibles.
