Sam Mendes Talks

28th April 2014

Director Sam Mendes has discussed the reasons why he came back to helm Bond 24 after the record-breaking success of 'Skyfall'...

Director Sam Mendes, who is returning to helm Bond 24 after the record-breaking success of "Skyfall", talked about the next 007 adventure to American interviewer Charlie Rose this month.

Amongst the discussion, Mendes made the following points:

  • He decided to return, after initially turning down the job due to time constraints, as he had started a "number of stories that were incomplete" such as casting a new M, Moneypenny and Q (and not Tanner as he incorrectly states)
  • Bond 24 will feel like the second part of "Skyfall", although it will not be a story continuation
  • Bond 24 and Bond 25 will not be a two-part story (as originally intended) although John Logan will pen both
  • "Characters were allowed to age [in Skyfall]"
  • The noise of the audience when the DB5 is revealed in "Skyfall" was enough to make him want to do it all over again

Bond 24 will be released on October 23rd in the UK and November 6th in the USA.
