RC2 Mach 1 & Corvette
11th August 2005
Two American muscle cars that featured heavily in Diamonds are
Forever and A View to A Kill have been released by RC2 as part
of its Joyride entertainment range of Bond movie cars in 1/18th
scale.
Tiffany's Mustang Mach 1
The main chase sequence in Diamonds are Forever required Bond
to drive the heroine's 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1, the ultimate
muscle car of the decade.
In Las Vegas, Bond is pursued through the neon-lit streets by
the police in a spectacular stunt-laden chase, which leaves numerous
cars destroyed. The highlight is 007's escape through an alleyway
only half the width of the car. Bond tilts the Mustang on to its
side and drives it on two wheels through the impossibly narrow
space. The Mustang features an opening bonnet with engine details
and opening doors and detailed interior.

Chevrolet Corvette
James Bond movies are known for their fast women and even faster
cars. In A View To A Kill, Bond and the lovely KGB agent Pola
Ivanola travel together to San Francisco in a silver Chevrolet
Corvette. Although the vehicle featured none of the usual gadgetry,
it still gave Corvette enthusiasts a view to a "thrill!"
Like the Mustang the Corvette features opening bonnet with engine
details, and opening doors with detailed interior.

The cars come packaged in special boxes, covered in artwork which
features the 007 logo plus the name of the film in which the car
appears. Both vehicles come complete with an exclusive and collectable
Q-Card CD Rom, which includes screen savers, wallpapers, vehicle
specifications and 3D visuals of the car.
Other Models
Joyride Entertainment (part of the RC2 group) secured the James
Bond license in 2004 and plan to release twelve cars over the
two years. The range will visit a mixture of famous cars from
the 20 film canon. The models are expected to retail between £29.99
and £34.99 in the UK, and $39.99 in the USA (prices may
vary). Updated release dates are estimates and are subject to
change. RC2 had a proposed Bond 21 car for a 2005, but due to
the film being moved to 2006 its unclear what will happen. Expect
a further six cars to be announced in the near future.
