Report & Photos by Matthew Field
On Sunday 6th July BondStars’ held their annual
summer barbeque at Pinewood Studios. This year the event was
themed around Timothy Dalton’s debut The Living Daylights.
Making his first BondStars’ appearance was Dutch actor
Jeroen Krabbé who played KGB baddie General Georgi Koskov.
He was joined by fellow cast members Maryam d’Abo, Thomas
Wheatley and Caroline Bliss.
The day kicked off with a screening of The Living Daylights
in Pinewood’s cinema, which has recently been re-named
The John Barry Theatre. Director John Glen and members of cast
and crew were on hand to introduce the film.
Following the screening, guests signed autographs and chatted
with fans. Cinematographer Alec Mills launched and signed copies
of his new autobiography ‘Shooting
007 and other Celluloid Adventures.’
Also returning to Pinewood for the first time in 27 years was
the soft-top Aston Martin as driven by Bond in the early scenes
of the movie. Displayed on the lawn in front of the manor house,
the Aston became the centre of a fun re-union photograph with
John Glen at the wheel. Cinema Retro’s Dave Worrall led
visitors on his 'traditional' tour of the studios,
before the special guests took to the stage for a series of lighthearted
interviews, in which they regaled the audience with their memories
of making the film.
Another enjoyable and memorable event and BondStars promise
to return with another great lineup next year.
