Bardem In Hollywood

10th November 2012

On Thursday the 8th of November, Javier Bardem, co-star of the successful 23rd 007 adventure, "Skyfall", was honoured by Hollywood with a star on its "Walk of Fame". He modestly told the crowd that it was "too soon" for him to be receiving the prestigious star, "But it's a great honour to receive it." The star joked that "Javier Bardem day" sounded like a good idea.

To help celebrate Bardem's rocket to stardom, the "Skyfall" cast and crew were on hand for photos and to greet the fans that lined Hollywood Boulevard. Director Sam Mendes, Bond girls Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, and the film's producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, were all there to support the Spanish star. Also in attendance were Amy Pascal and Gary Barber, executives from Sony Pictures, who currently distribute the 007 adventures. Notably missing from the party was incumbent 007 star, Daniel Craig.

Bardem commented to the press gathered in Hollywood on Thursday, "I grew up in a family of filmmakers and actors dating back, back, back to the earliest days of Spanish cinema, and I've been lucky enough to work as a professional actor for 25 years." Mendes commented sympathetically, "He's hating this, it's making him very embarrassed. Even though he's a great actor, I suspect he would not describe himself as an actor first. Because first he's also a husband and a father."
