Q-Branch Preview
Although EA's latest videogame "From Russia With Love"
is set in the 1960's, players can still expect some new
gadgets and gizmos to assist Bond on his latest adventure.
EA have chosen to keep the period setting from the movie,
but will be enhancing some of the technology with modern-day
twists.
As well as receiving new toys, players will be able to
wander around Q-Branch and witness the development, and
in some cases failure, of some of Q's latest ideas.
Above (left to right): The briefcase gun unfolds and unleashes automatic
fire against any goon that gets in its way, leaving 007 to stand
back in safety. A high powered laser has been fitted to the standard
issue watch and is good for taking care of targets, glass windows
and locks. The Q-Copter is the latest and greatest gadget, giving
Bond aerial reckon into dangerous or unreachable areas, and also
the ability to self destruct and take out anyone nearby.
Above (left to right): New sonic cufflinks explode and emit a high
powered audio surge that bombard the eardrums of any nearby goon
and disorientates them long enough for a surprise attack. The gasmask
provides protection against tear gas, as used in the gypsy camp
missions. Lastly, opponents can turn on their own team members when
hit by a round from the serum gun.
Left: The new weapons and gadget inventory
select is a big improvement on the cumbersome and often
confusing HUD used in "Everything or Nothing".
You can see all these gadgets in action in the special
preview video showcasing the latest Q-Branch technology!
Development of "From Russia With Love"
will take place at EA Redwood studios (USA) and will ship
in November 2005 on Microsoft
Xbox, Sony PlayStation
2 and Nintendo
GameCube. Versions for Nintendo DS and Sony PSP are
yet to be officially confirmed.
Stay tuned to MI6 for the latest unrivalled coverage
of "From Russia With
Love" (VG) starring Sean Connery as James Bond
007.
