The Many Faces of Felix Leiter
15th December 2004
In either his literary or cinematic guise, James Bond hasn't
been alone as he has always had a helping hand from a friendly
ally. The fan favourite will always be Bond’s American friend,
Felix Leiter, of the CIA. Leiter has got Bond out of a numerous
sticky situations, and has saved 007’s neck on several occasions.

“He smiled
once or twice across the table, and there was something
pointed in the way he duplicated Bond’s movements,
placing his two modest plaques of ten mille exactly opposite
Bond’s larger ones…’
My Name’s Felix Leiter,’
said the American. ‘Glad to meet you.’ ‘Mine’s
Bond - James Bond.’” - Casino

The tall thin man came forward with a wide grin…’Felix

Live and Let Die
One And The Same
Although six different actors in seven films have performed as
Leiter, the character has always maintained a similar appearance
of: black/grey hair, medium build, light complexion and often
seen wearing sunglasses and dressed in a casual suit.
Throughout the legacy, Bond and Leiter have always remained friends,
but the filmmakers have revealed only a little on the subject
of Felix’s private life. Their relationship shown on film
has always been professional and not much is ever given away regarding
his interests or family. "Licence to Kill" is the only
film in which Felix and James are together outside “business
hours”, as Bond attends Leiter's wedding.
