British actor Dominic Cooper plays James Bond creator Ian Fleming
for Sky Atlantic's new
miniseries. "Stepping into the shoes
of the spy who not only created the enigmatic character of 007,
but
who
fantasized
about being him has to be every actor's dream," he said.
Fleming is a co-production between Sky Atlantic and BBC America
(strangely, an American channel in the UK, and a UK channel
in America) and is billed as a "no-holds-barred
look at Ian Fleming, the man behind the James Bond legend whose
real life was as exciting, eventful and sexually charged as his
famous creation".
Co-starring with Cooper is Lara Pulver who plays Anne O'Neill,
a baroness whose wartime encounter with Fleming would change
the
writer's
life. The cast is rounded out with Annabelle Wallis, Lesley Manville,
Anna Chancellor, Samuel West and Rupert Evans.
The miniseries is written by John Brownlow and Don Macpherson,
and directed by Mat Whitecross. Executive producer Douglas Rae
said: "Ian Fleming's story is as dramatic and entertaining
as any of the Bond films." The four-part drama is being
shot on location now in the UK and Budapest and will
broadcast on Sky Atlantic in late 2013.
