Bond Girl Cocktails (2)
25th December 2010
Back in 1962, Sean Connery’s request
for a “martini, shaken not stirred” made with
vodka helped change how people made 007’s favourite cocktail—from
using traditional gin to making it vodka-based. Over the course
of the last 22 films, many Bond Girls have inspired their own
drinks too. Here is a special selection of non-alcoholic recipes
from the MI6 bar tending division to help everyone celebrate
the occasion (click
here for recipes for agents of legal drinking
age).
The Honey Ryder
2 highball glasses
4 oz. (1/2 cup) orange juice
Flesh and seeds of 2 passion fruit
1 banana, skinned and roughly chopped
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
4 teaspoons raw sugar
Crushed ice
Garnish: slices of ripe banana dusted with grated nutmeg
Whizz everything together in a blender with a scoop of crushed
ice. Fill the glasses with crushed ice and pour in the drink.
The Pussy Galore
2 highball glasses
2 oz. (1/4 cup) cloudy apple juice
2 oz. (1/4 cup) orange juice
1 fresh mango, skinned and chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla sugar
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
Crushed ice
Garnish: apple fans
Whizz everything together in a blender along with crushed ice
and split between the glasses.
The Moneypenny
2 highball glasses
20 fresh raspberries
Flesh and seeds of 2 passion fruit
4 teaspoons sugar syrup
4 oz. (1/2 cup) cloudy apple juice
4 oz. (1/2 cup) orange juice
Crushed ice
Garnish: apple fan, raspberries, and sprig of mint
Gently muddle the raspberries, passionfruit, and sugar syrup
together with some crushed ice in a mixing glass and split between
the glasses. Add more crushed ice and the fruit juices, stir,
fill up with ice and garnish.
