The American Bar at The Savoy is celebrating the publication of the latest James Bond novel, "Carte Blanche", by offering a special "Carte Blanche" cocktail. Written by American author, Jeffery Deaver, the book sees Bond drinking a new cocktail, which the American Bar will be the first bar in the world to serve.
The "Carte Blanche" is a blend of Crown Royal whisky, triple sec and angostura bitters with a twist of orange peel. But one thing remains the same - the cocktail is shaken not stirred. Head Bartender Erik Lorincz, who is widely considered to be one of the finest bartenders in the world, has followed the recipe outlined in the book and given it a special smoky twist inspired by the book's cover.
The "Carte Blanche" follows a tradition started by Fleming in his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, when he created the Vesper, named after one of his characters, Vesper Lynd. The Vesper, a combination of gin, vodka and Kina Lillet, will also be added to the cocktail list of the American Bar allowing guests to enjoy a classic and a new 'Bond cocktail'. |
