Story
- North Korea
The waves crashing into the North Korean shoreline
are punishing, and twice as dangerous in the dead of night. Bond, alongside two
South Korean agents, paddle and set themselves up for a huge wave. As the swell
rises, the two agents wipe-out as Bond manages to ride the sixty-foot wave all
the way to the coast. After stealthily taking out a patrol guard, Bond steps out
of his wetsuit to reveal a Brioni suit and begins to unpack the gadgets from the
surfboard. Don and Lee, the other two agents now dressed in North Korean uniforms,
have finally made it to shore and help Bond set up a GPS locator hidden within
a Q-Branch knife.
The signal fools the pilot of the helicopter escorting
South African diamond-trader Van Beirt to his rendezvous with weapons-dealer Colonel
Moon. Moon is known to the West as a high-risk renegade and needed to be eliminated.
The helicopter is greeted by James Bond, now a doppleganger for Van Biert, and
the passengers are tied and gagged while the trio of agents take off in their
place.
The helicopter arrives at Moon's bunker in the Korean demilitarised
zone (DMZ), a place littered with land mines, pillboxes, hovercraft - and sports
cars. Zao greets "Van Beirt", and as he lands, takes a digital photo
of and sends it. Getting down to business, Moon and Van Beirt swap glimpses of
each others wares - warship style hovercraft, and glistening diamonds. Moon, made
aware of the impostor through a phone call, destroys the helicopter to demonstrate
his weapons capability, killing Don and Lee. Moon revels in announcing the imposters
true identity as Zao puts a gun to his head: James Bond agent 007.
General
Moon, father to Colonel Moon hears the explosion and is on his way to investigate.
Moon quickly packs away the weapons and orders Zao to kill Bond. The hidden explosive
in the diamond briefcase explodes violently as Bond presses the remote trigger
on his Omega watch, the diamond shrapnel embedding in Zao's face.
Bond takes
control of one of the hovercraft as Zao fires a machine gun randomly, causing
chaos. Moon orders his men to hunt Bond in the hovercraft. Mines explode and hovercraft
slam into tank traps as Bond catches up with Moon. Bond leaps on to the mother
ship hovercraft as the remaining vehicles crash into a huge gatepost. Wedged between
rocks and teetering over a 200 foot waterfall, Bond and Moon fight it out hand-to-hand
before Bond ups the throttle causing Moon to be sucked against the huge fan grille.
Bond makes it to the river bank as the hovercraft tumbles over the edge, taking
Moon with it. General Moon storms the temple next to the gatepost where Bond is
resting after his ordeal and orders the agent to be taken away and punished for
the death of his son.
14 months, 2 weeks and 3 days after he was captured
by General Moon, and suffered extreme torture, Bond - almost a beaten man - is
frog marched to a firing squad line-up. Moon makes one final attempt to get the
agent to talk before revealing why he has been taken out of his cell - Bond is
to be traded back to the west for Zao. The two meet half way across a bridge and
exchange threats of revenge.
Robinson, MI6 chief of staff, is there to
meet Bond with Falco and several other NSA agents. Before Bond can say anything,
he is injected with drugs and slips into a deep state of unconsciousness.
