Story - Iceland

Bond drives the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish through the beautiful if unforgiving Icelandic landscape and heads towards Gustav Graves' Ice Palace. On the way he notices several domes built along the edge of the frozen lake that Miranda Frost had given him directions to at Blades Club. A huge industrial power plant lay between the domes and an open-air hot spa.

Bond parks the Vanquish alongside many expensive cars outside the impressive Ice Palace. Graves arrives in style too, as he clocks up a personal best of 324mph in his jet-powered ice dragster. Bond meets Mr Kil for the first time, a big burly man, as Graves instructs him to carry Bond's luggage.

As Jinx arrives in her Ford Thunderbird, Miranda Frost escorts Bond to his suite in the palace. Bond changes into a tuxedo before meeting Jinx and Frost at the bar. Jinx uses a cover name, Ms Swift of Space & Technology magazine to introduce herself to Frost.

Frost introduces Graves to the crowd as nightfall descends outside. Donning a pair of sunglasses, Graves starts to control Icarus and brings amazing light to the previously dark landscape. As Graves' speech comes to an end, and he promises to bring free light to the dark regions of the earth, the light stops and the party begins. As the guests head back to the palace, Bond follows Graves to one of the domes using the adaptive cloaking feature on the Vanquish.

Once inside the gates, Graves, Vlad and Kil enter the dome, Bond inspects the outside of the building. Guards quickly detect Bond and he is forced to blow out a valve on the side of the building, causing a huge explosion which creates a gap in the security fence. He is met by a gun, and Miranda Frost. She orders him to strip, and the pair get in the open-air hot spa whilst the Mr Kil and his dogs are on the hunt. The ruse works as Kil turns around not entirely happy with his discovery. Frost reveals her status as an MI6 agent whilst the couple kiss passionately and talk shop. Graves discovers the pair and Frost's embarrassment is genuine as she tries to conceal herself.

Graves heads back to his laboratory under the dome where he meets his scientist Vlad and his latest improvements to the Icarus control device - a 100,000 volt stun gun.

Meanwhile, Bond returns to his suite in the Ice Palace where Frost is waiting for him, poised nervously on the end of his bed. To maintain their cover, the pair agree to spend the night together and somewhat mechanically get into bed, before launching into a night of passion.

A man wearing dark clothes and a balaclava sneaks through the corridors of the Ice Palace in the dead of night. Entering Gustav`s private office, he sees Graves under his dream machine - getting the one hour a day he needs to stay sane from his insomnia.

Zao wakes Graves and the pair compare stories of their metamorphosis. Finally it is revealed that Gustav Graves is none other than Colonel Moon. Whereas Zao's transformation was abruptly stopped half way, Moon has finished the process and has fooled almost everyone. But Moon is not happy with the Western appearance he has had to take on, and smashes a mirror in his office in disgust.

Jinx, although stealthy, triggers an intruder alarm as she approaches the office. She attempts to shoot a man under the dream machine, but her bullet ricochets off a reinforced glass shield. Graves is waiting for her with the 100,000 volt Icarus gauntlet, and knocks her unconscious with one single zap.

James Bond leaves Miranda Frost in his suite as he dons his survival suit under normal clothes. The Vanquish, still in invisible mode, is driven out remotely from the dome towards Bond where he uses the side of the car to sneak out undetected. Knowing that the icy water below flows into the hothouse biodome, Bond cuts a hole in the ice with his watch laser and slips into the freezing cold water. It is only a short distance to the dome, and Bond quickly emerges into the artificial tropical atmosphere.

Zao has strapped and gagged Jinx to a table in the mine, which he reveals is fake, but the lasers are just as deadly. Refusing to talk, Jinx is toyed with my Mr Kil, as Bond bursts into the room. A fight breaks out between them as Jinx has to watch the laser getting closer and closer to her. Bond eventually grabs the remote control for the lasers and gives Jinx a restbite, but in doing so he has given Mr Kil an advantage. Bond switches the lasers back on as Mr Kil throttles Bond against the wall, the laser beam silently drilling a hole through his skull, causing a whiff of smoke to come out of his mouth. The lasers come in useful again, as Mr Kil's hand his lasered off from the wrist so that Bond and Jinx can escape the room looked by a biometric scanner.

Bond tells Jinx to go and find Frost, as they are allies, and to get out of the Ice Palace while he goes after Zao. Jinx gets locked into her suite when failing to find Frost, whilst Bond waits for Graves to enter his office.

Bond confronts Graves and reveals his true identity - Colonel Moon. Frost enters and points her P99 at Graves too, but the ruse soon comes to a climax when Bond discovers who betrayed him in North Korea. Frost's gun now points at Bond, and as he pulls the trigger to shoot Graves, nothing happens. Frost had sabotaged Bond's gun the pervious night as he slept. Zao joins the foray to complete the showdown, and punches Bond a few times until his is on the floor - made of glass. Graves explains how he poisoned Frost's opponent in the Olympics in order to win her loyalty, she is now his double agent inside MI6. Graves orders Frost to kill Bond, but before she pulls the trigger, Bond uses his sonic agitator ring to shatter the floor and the pair fall to the jungle floor beneath.

Bond scampers off into the jungle as Frost comes to her senses and Zao joins her in the hunt. They seem to have their man as Bond makes a seemingly tactical mistake heading for the centre of the dome, but he escapes their clutches by flying up into the roof of the dome on the descender wire Jinx had left there from her entry. Bond tumbles down the outside of the dome as shots fire through the roof toward him, and he heads towards the jet-powered ice dragster.

Infuriated by Bond's quick wits, Graves dons the Icarus control gauntlet and is keen to demonstrate it to his three high ranking Korean guests. He teases Bond by bringing the weapon's powerful beam of light closer and closer to the back of the speeding craft. Bond, sensing he has only seconds to survive, decides to head for a sheer cliff face with a huge drop. Switching the anchors on at the perfect time, the ice dragster locks into the ice just as it goes over the edge, leaving the craft hanging dangerously. Bond manages to clamber out of the craft hanging above a 600 foot drop, and fashions a lifeline out of an emergency parachute and panel from the jet. As Graves moves in for the kill, causing the entire glacier to collapse, Bond floats away from the chaos, half flying, half surfing over the icy water below, before finally reaching the other side of the lake.

Meanwhile at the Ice Palace, Zao and Frost say farewell to Jinx, locking her in a room. Graves and his Korean guests drive off as he leaves Zao to finish his work.

Bond hears the distant sound of an engine and it gives him an idea. He ties the cord from the parachute between two ice peaks, and waits for his prey. The ski-doo driver doesn't see it coming, and Bond gets on the vehicle as quickly as it's previous driver was dispatched.

A giant Antonov cargo plane swoops over head and lands in a nearby ice field as Bond sneaks into his car and uses the heat-imaging display to notice Jinx is still inside the Ice Palace. Chaos breaks loose as Zao rounds his guards on the strange ghost moving towards the palace, and snow mobiles fly into the air after seemingly hitting nothing.

Zao runs for his Jaguar XKR as Graves, now onboard the Antonov with Frost and the Koreans, fires Icarus at the Ice Palace. The two cars spin and dance on the surface of the frozen lake as in turn, each driver tries to outwit the other. Zao seems to have Bond where he wants him when the Vanquish gets flipped onto it's roof, but Bond uses the ejector seat to right the vehicle in spectacular fashion.

The cars smash into the Ice Palace as Bond refuses to give up on Jinx, who is now up to her neck in freezing water. Zao finally loses control and the Jaguar crashes through the floor of the palace and into the icy cold water. Bond sees Zao struggling for air and thrashing about in the water when he shoots the chandelier directly above him. The water turns from icy blue, to blood red.

The Vanquish smashes into Jinx's cold tomb as her body rolls up the bonnet of the car. Bond uses the ring to shatter the car's windscreen and pulls her lifeless body inside. He pushes the throttle down the the floor and the car smashes through the outer wall just as the entire Ice Palace slips under the surface of the once frozen lake. He takes Jinx to the hot-spa and resuscitates her, while the Antonov's engines roar over their heads - headed for North Korea.
