Bond and the enthusiastic farm girl, Ruby, meet when 007 joins the stunning patients of Piz Gloria's clinic - who all turn out to be young and gorgeous ladies. Over dinner Bond does his best to resist the temptations, whilst the girls do their best to engage him in conversation.

Caught In The Act
Quick to befriend the handsome newcomer - the standoffish but seemingly
jovial 'Sir Hillary Bray' - Ruby sits close to Bond-in-disguise
and is scolded by Irma Bunt for
her flirtatious manor. She derives a plan for Bond and herself
to rendezvous - by writing her room number on his leg in lipstick
- and it is in her room that Bond discovers the power of Blofeld's
hypnosis techniques. The next night Bond returns to Ruby's room
again, only to discover that Blofeld and Bunt are aware of his
true identity and rather than finding Ruby waiting in bed,
Bond uncovers Bunt instead!
Profile
Ruby Bartlett is the bubbly and enthusiastic English patient
at Blofeld's Piz Gloria. She is the daughter of a wealthy
chicken farmer, born in Lancashire and has been sent away
to the remote allergy therapy clinic to cure her anaphylaxis
to chicken feathers.
The character of Ruby, who is given the
name Bartlett in the film, is adapted from Ian
Fleming's novel.
Much of the details remain the same, save the name is changed
from Ruby Windsor to Ruby Bartlett. |

Biography
Scoular began her on-screen career in the mid '60s, appearing in the long-running police drama, "No Hiding Place" alongside its regular stars Sean Caffrey and Johnny Briggs. She won a bit part on the acclaimed Ian McKellen adaptation of the Dickens classic, "David Copperfield" before going on to appear in her first feature films before the end of the 1960s: "A Countess from Hong Kong" (1967) and "Casino Royale" (1967).

Two years later, she crossed
paths with the official 007 movie series when Peter Hunt
cast Scoular in his one-time Bond film "On Her Majesty's
Secret Service". The role was the largest of all those
offered to Blofeld's pretty 'Angels of Death'. Throughout
the '70s, Angela took gust-starring roles in UK television
from classic soap "Coronation Street" to small-town
drama "Penmarric". By the 1980s, Scoular had
a recurring role in "You Rang M'Lord?" as Lady
Agatha Shawcross and most recently appeared with Judi Dench,
who has played the current
MI6 chief since the 1990s, in romantic comedy "As
Time Goes By". |
In 1982 Scoular married acclaimed British actor Leslie Phillips, famous for the "Carry On" films and later, appeared in "The Jackal" and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider". Scoular passed away in April 2011. She is survived by Phillips and her son Daniel.
