Uncut version of Casino Royale coming to the UK as '15' certificate |
Casino Royale - 13-08-12
In addition to news this week that the 1971 James Bond film had seen its classification increased from a PG to 12 by the British Board of Film Classification, another 007 adventure is having its rating upped today. This time though, the rating change is to do with shots added back to "Casino Royale" that were originally removed to secure a 12A rating for UK cinema release in 2006.
Brief shots from the torture sequence were removed for UK audiences, although the film was screened in its original form almost everywhere else in the world. This increase to '15' means that British Bond fans will finally get to see the same film when it is released in Blu-Ray later this year in the BOND 50 set.
The latest classification of "Casino Royale" by the BBFC lists the film's duration as 2:18:34:13 (2 hours, 18 minutes, 34 seconds and 13 frames) and warns of "one scene of torture and strong action violence".
