50 Years of Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Radio 4 tomorrow |
Media Alert - 19-10-14
This is certainly a celebration of the car, the film and the Ian Fleming book. But its not a typical vacuous documentary with famous people and the odd clip. This is much more interesting because there is such a lot to say whether youre a Chitty fan or all you remember is the theme song.
Brian Sibley takes in the origins of the car including its name and the sort-of flying cars it was based on; as well as how Fleming came to write the story, the fact that there are parallels with his life and with his Bond books, and how Roald Dahl altered the plot for the screen. This is not only a celebration but also a re-examination and a reappraisal.
