Tourism bosses aim to bring the star-studded British premiere of the latest James Bond film to Chester, UK.
The new 007 actor is Chester-born Daniel Craig whose father Tim stills runs a business in the city - reports Cheshire Online.
Chester City Council tourism development officer Gerald Tattum believes it would be a great coup to stage the first screening of the new Casino Royale and bring Daniel Craigbacktowherehewasbornin 1968 and lived with his family in Liverpool Road.
Mr Tattum is talking to other tourism bodies and business sponsors about raising the 10,000 needed to stage the glamorous event, which would put Chester on the world stage.
Most British premieres take place at London's Odeon, Leicester Square, but there are precedents for quirky locations.
Mr Tattum said: 'Daniel is locally born and it would be great to celebrate that and bring a piece of Hollywood to Chester - why not? There is nothing to lose and a huge amount to gain.'
'Whatever investment we had to make, if you think of the TV coverage, it would more than pay for itself.'
Mr Tattum said when the Chester Odeon opened in the 1930s it was visited by Marlene Dietrich and Douglas Fairbanks, huge movie stars at the time. He has not yet approached the Odeon's head office about his idea for 2006, but has spoken to Cheshire tourism officers, the North West Film Commission plus potential sponsors.
