David Arnold talks about scoring Bond 22, taking a different approach

In the third part of an online interview with David Arnold - conducted by new site Stage and Screen Online - the James Bond composer revealed how he will be taking on the 22nd adventure in a different way. Back in October, Arnold confirmed he was returning for his fifth 007 movie.

He confirmed that he will be spending more time scoring Daniel Craig's second outing as 007. "I think I'm going to be on Bond for quite a while this time. We are going to be taking a different approach. I think I'm going to be exclusively on it for quite a while as soon as possible."

Arnold said that the director Marc Forster "likes to work really tightly with his composers and I think it will be a great benefit to the film". He added that "Marc is exactly the right person to be doing this film."

Last time around, Arnold started scoring Casino Royale eight weeks to the day from the end of principal photography, which he said "was silly in a way". "It's extraordinary that it turned out OK, but people ask me how long does it take to score a film and it's like 'it takes a long as youre given to do it.' If you give me six months to do it, it will take me six months to do it. If you give me two weeks to do it, I will get it done in two weeks."

Arnold concluded the Bond 22 segment of the interview by saying "the intention is to spend a long time and really work it out and make sure its doing the right thing."
