Activision social media whiz hits the net to downplay Bizarre closure

Gaming - 17-11-10
Dan Amrich, a 'Social Media Manager' at Activision, has been busy on Twitter trying to damp down the coverage of James Bond and racing videogame studio Bizarre Creations being shuttered, in an attempt to stem the tide of "hysterical" knee-jerk responses to their future.

The developer "is not dead," he affirms so "there's no demise" - many are just "wallowing in the worst possible outcome", reports Strategy Informer.

"Bizarre Creations has not closed and it's not time to talk about them in past tense yet," twittered Amrich in his impassioned slew of comments. "Consider firstly that the studio is not dead, so there's no demise -- let's get the facts straight, lest we see hysteria."

Amrich reiterates that Activision is "exploring options" for the studio and is not just lopping it's head off. "Until the studio closes, the studio is not closed. I hope the "options" Activision "explores" are good for the studio," he added.

Activision stated that "Blur did not find a commercial audience following the rumour that 200 staff were let go from Bizarre, and that they are now "exploring options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business.

Amrich continues: When some people hear bad news, they want to focus on it. Im not in that camp. I hate bad news but Id rather think critically. He's remaining optimistic: I am prepared for the worst but hoping for the best thats all. There are a lot of talented people there; not giving up on them."
