It's almost exactly a year since MI6 first reported that EON Productions were scouting Croatia as a potential location for Bond 25. During those 12 months, very little has moved, at least publicly, on the production status of the 25th James Bond film.

That changed today with confirmation from the city's mayor that EON were in advanced talks to host some Bond 25 filming in Dubrovnik. This time last year, the mayor of Dubrovnik said that financial negotiations were just starting. When quizzed yesterday at a press conference about the shooting of 'Robin Hood' in the city, the mayor told the local media: "James Bond is in an advanced stage of negotiations."

Dubrovnik in Croatia is being considered for Bond 25 filming

Next on the horizon for the area is location shooting for the next 'Star Wars' film, although all of the studio work for that film will be based at 007's home of Pinewood Studios.

It would not be the first time that James Bond action has shot in Croatia, although not for a film in the franchise. Heineken used the Croation town of Rovinj as the setting for their 'SPECTRE' television commercial (although Daniel Craig performed his action on green screen).
