A new comic book series launches in March
By MI6 Staff
Dynamite Comics have announced a new original comic book series under their James Bond licence: 'Agent of SPECTRE'.
It has been a quiet few months on the comic book scene, between the industry's leading distributor shutting down due to COVID-19, and a controversy surrounding the publisher that led to numerous writers and artists walking away (including Wonder Woman writer Steve Orlando who bailed on a new Bond project), but there will be a fresh 007 adventure starting in March afterall.
Written by Bond-newcomer Christos Gage with art by Luca Casalanguida (who drew James Bond: The Body and James Bond: Kill Chain), the story sees "Bond recruited into the terrorist organization by Ernst Stavro Blofeld to end an internal power struggle that could have apocalyptic consequences."
"I've been lucky enough to work on many iconic characters in my career, but this is my first time writing Bond, and I'm having a blast," Gage said. "Throwing him into a web of intrigue with his archenemy Blofeld as an untrustworthy ally is thrilling enough, but to have the amazing Luca Casalanguida as my artistic collaborator, not to mention covers by legends Steve Epting and Sean Phillips, is an embarrassment of riches. They give me a license to kill ... creatively ... and I plan to use it!"
The first issue of 'James Bond: Agent of SPECTRE' will be released in March 2021.
