Bond Girl Cocktails (3)
24th December 2011
Back in 1962, Sean Connery’s request
for a “martini, shaken not stirred” made with
vodka helped change how people made 007’s favourite cocktail—from
using traditional gin to making it vodka-based. Over the course
of the last 22 films, many Bond Girls have inspired their own
drinks too. Here is a special selection of adult recipes
from the MI6 bar tending division to help everyone celebrate
the occasion (click
here for recipes for agents of non-legal drinking
age).
The Tatiana Romanova
1 1/2 oz. Raspberry vodka
Cold 7-Up soda
1 splash cranberry juice
Pour the vodka in to the glass with a splash
of cranberry juice, topping up with 7-Up.
The Jill Masterson
5 oz. Brut Champagne, chilled
1/2 oz. Cognac
1 teaspoon simple honey syrup
2 dashes orange bitters
1 twist of lemon
Rim a Champagne flute with the lemon twist and drop the twist
into the glass. Add the cognac, honey syrup, and bitters. Gently
top with Champagne.
The Plenty O'Toole
1 measure Irish whiskey
1 measure Bailey's Irish cream
1 measure hazelnut liqueur
Shake and strain into an old-fashioned glass three-quarters
filled with broken ice.
The Holly Goodhead
1 measure Cognac
1 measure Peach Brandy
1 measure Dubonnet
2 dashes Pastis
Fill a mixing glass with ice cubes. Add all
ingredients. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
The Octopussy
1 measure vodka
1 measure peppermint liqueur
1 measure Bacardi 151 rum
8 drops Bailey's Irish cream
Pour vodka, peppermint liqueur and Bacardi into a shot glass.
Using a stir stick, drip in 8 drops of Bailey's Irish Cream one
at a time to form the tentacles of the Octopus. Serve.
