British director Christopher Nolan, who has long been championed to helm a James Bond film by a section of both the 007 fans and the Nolan die-hards, has poured cold water on the talk of rebooting the series with a new actor.
“No, sadly no — no truth to those rumors,” Nolan told The Associated Press in an interview while promoting the home video release of Oppenheimer.
Bond rumours in the media have always been somewhat of a cottage industry, but in recent years there has been a further subset of those trying to will a Nolan-Bond film into existence by sheer persistence of repetition. A few weeks ago there was a great example of how these unfounded Nolan-fan dreams get out of control.
Although Nolan has been clear there is nothing in the works with Bond, you can bet there will be a movie blog next week that starts: "Despite the director denying these stories..."
