`Quantum` soundtrack misses out on Ivor Novello award |

The 54th edition of the Ivor Novello Awards, covering 2008 and staged by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) in association with PRS for Music, was held today at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.Composer David Arnold's soundtrack to the 2008 James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" was nominated in the Best Original Film Score category, but lost out to "There Will Be Blood" (Jonny Greenwood). The other nominee was "The Escapist" (Benjamin Wallfisch).
James Bond lyricist Don Black was honoured with this year's Academy Fellowship award.
The Ivors celebrate the outstanding writing achievements of songwriters, composers and their music publishers. The awards either celebrate artistic excellence in a specific work, exceptional sales or performance figures in the award year or recognise the outstanding achievements of a particular songwriter or composer throughout their career. Presented annually at the Grosvenor House, London, The Ivors continue to be acknowledged as amongst the most widely coveted awards for British songwriters or composers in the world.
