A Mercury Cougar Convertible, one of a tiny handful (some sources say three, others four) purchased by EON Productions for use in the filming of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (1969) starring Australian actor George Lazenby in his sole outing as 007, went up for auction earlier this month. It is believed to be the vehicle used in the barn scene between Bond and Tracy.
The car went under the hammer at Bonhams in London on 16th December 2020. It was expected to sell for between £100,000 - 150,000 (US$ 130,000 - 200,000).
The one-of-a-kind car sold for an astonishing £356,500 (US $484,080) including auction premium.
